SRS IT Vision
To keep ahead of International Educational Standards the time has come for SRS to develop a 1:1 tablet curriculum that allows every child in school using a ltablet to access learning resources through the school network and from the World Wide Web.
SRS IT SCOPE
The school has worked hard to secure the best product in
the market; the BESPOKE SAMSUNG. This device operates
both as a tablet and as a notebook; it has traditional
keyboard and mouse inputs, as well as touch screen. This
makes it ideal for a range of applications throughout the
school phases and makes it exceptional value for money
at only 6500AED.

On 5- March - 2015, a group of our Yr 10 students took part in an Engineering and Computing Competition at RIT University. The boys represented the school well and were impeccably behaved. They competed against mainly 6th formers from other schools across the UAE. The task was challenging but I’m proud to say they managed to finish in 6th place out of 20.
The students involved were:
Fady Amr Farouk Mohamed
Wajeeh Ahmed Hashmi
They will be awarded certificates in assembly this week and will receive 10% off tuition fees to attend RIT University.
We are qualified for the national finals in Abu Dhabi. Not only did the boys qualify but we had the 3rd fastest car and the 2nd fastest average time out of 26 schools competing.
Some results are still to be confirmed but all I can say is that the boys were professional throughout the day and represented the school perfectly.
Also the boys won the pit stop challenge, which was replacing a wheel on an F1 car. The professionals take 3 seconds per wheel our boys took 3.4 seconds and bagged themselves free go karting on the Yas Marina Circuit!
Many thanks to the teachers that supported us during time.
Do you know that you are responsible for building the neural pathways in your child’s brain that pave his way to psychosocial development?
If you desire to know the answer, then hurry up and attend the lecture entitled:

As an introduction to reading and writing month, we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5 - March - 2015.
The children will come dressed up as a character on this day.
Teachers have options as to what they choose to do. Teachers may like to decide to have a show and tell time where children present their favourite book.
The only compulsory part will be our ‘Story Time’ activity. For this, children should bring a book to school or choose a book from the class library to have with them at all times. At various points through the day there will be a Tannoy announcement telling the children that it’s reading time. The children will then have 5 minutes free reading time.
This week the school is thrilled to welcome 5 students and 2 teachers from Barut Primary School in Nakuru, Kenya. They are here for the week staying with several families from SRS. They will gain an insight into life here in Dubai and Emirati culture and bring back their experiences back to the community in Nakuru. Our students will learn about life in Kenya, the similarities, the differences and some of the daily challenges they face. Barut Primary school is very different to our school: it’s in a rural setting with their own livestock, they do not have computer or internet access and class sizes are 60 or more. We are confident that this project is already developing global awareness and cultural understanding in our pupils and look forward to a blossoming partnership!
We'd like to draw your attention to the Kenya projects follow up story in the National Newspaper. The children involved were very excited about being in the newspaper and i know it would make their day if you could mention this in front of their whole class.

Words can’t truly describe the experience I had during the short time we spent in Barut. From the first minute, arriving to the expectant gaze of the entire school, to those final moments being waved off by our new friends. To be welcomed into their community as if you were a family member was a truly memorable experience. For people that have so little, they gave us so much! I gained memories that will last a life time and have inspired me to work harder to make even more of an impact in their school in the future. My fondest memory of the week, was seeing the students that visited SRS in their own homes.
To see these children in their own environment, made me think back to what they must have thought when they first stepped off the plane in Dubai. They are literally different worlds and for children so young to have taken the whole experience in their stride, shows their amazing character. This left me with the utmost respect for these children and made me question whether I would have been able to take on such a journey when I was their age. To be given the opportunity to not only take part in a project like this but also organize, was an honor and a privilege and something that I will never forget.
Dr Donald Thomas, a NASA Astronaut, visited SRS this week and inspired our secondary students to reach for the stars!
