The School of Research Science (SRS), named to emphasise the importance attached to enquiry based learning, offers an education delivering the best of Western culture and educational values within an Islamic framework. Two thirds of our total full-time teaching staff of 60 deliver the National Curriculum and our parents value highly the professionalism, expertise and knowledge brought by National Curriculum teachers. Parental feedback places great value also on the warm, friendly atmosphere of SRS.
The primary school celebrates its’ 11th birthday this year and has expanded year on year. The secondary school is now in it’s 6th year and has capacity for further growth. Both schools now share a single site and cross phase working relationships are flourishing.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
The primary school at SRS is a very special part of the School of Research Science and provides education for children aged from 3 to 11.
Over the recent years the primary school has expanded and now has over 8oo students in a large and spacious building in the heart of modern Dubai.
SRS meets the challenge of providing an English based curriculum that also supports the traditions and values of the local population. SRS is staffed by U.K trained and qualified primary school teachers who are classroom based and work in partnership with colleagues from a wide range of countries.
The international make up of our school and our strong ethos of respect and understanding towards others creates a rewarding and stimulating environment for students and staff in which to learn and work.
We welcome excellent teachers who have qualified U.K teacher status or the equivalent.
Potential Primary Teachers should also have: -
- At minimum of two years experience in a primary school.
- Excellent classroom practice.
- A willingness to contribute as part of a team of successful professionals.
- Knowledge and understanding of the National curriculum and a desire to develop an excellent programme of study for all pupils.
- The ability to communicate well and to foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- The desire to enjoy teaching children
- A willingness to participate in extra- curricular activities
- Can offer a minimum of one extra-curricular activity
SECONDARY SCHOOL
The secondary school, established 6 years ago, currently provides a duel Arabic and National Curriculum for over 300 students aged from 11-18. The positive community atmosphere of the school is clearly valued by parents, students and teachers.
The school is housed in attractive, spacious buildings and is well equipped with 6 science laboratories, two ICT rooms, 2 swimming pools and a newly refurbished modern library. Classrooms also have computer facilities.
We believe that an enquiry-based approach should be at the heart of learning so that we can develop creative, critical and independent minds who value their time at SRS and are determined to succeed in their chosen fields when they leave the school.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum follows the English National Curriculum and Ministry of Education Arabic Curriculum. At key Stage 4 students study for GCSEs and move onto A levels in year 12.
The secondary staff is truly international in character and we welcome staff who have gained a recognized teaching qualification and have had a minimum of two years secondary classroom experience.
We are seeking teachers who
· are able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice,
· are willing to work in a team and develop positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
· have a clear knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
· embrace the culture of the Arabic world
· can offer a minimum of one extra-curricular activity
