Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
SRS new Virtual Learning Environment, a leading-edge teaching & learning tool for the 21st century.
SRS will soon introduce Edge, its new Virtual Learning Environment, based on a proven and robust Microsoft solution.
The VLE is a Web-based collaboration, communications, and content delivery framework that serves all stakeholders in the school. The VLE helps to create integrated e-learning solutions for both the primary and secondary schools.
The VLE will create a Connected Learning Community, a term that describes a virtually-connected e-learning environment that supports students, teachers, and parents, allowing them to engage together to tackle education issues in a more facilitated way that is not dependent on time or place.
Delivering education-specific functionalities, the VLE-based e-learning solution means that every associated teacher, student, and family can be securely connected from their home or school to the VLE.
Using Web-based services, students can participate in lessons and complete assignments online through the portal, both from home and at school. Parents can track homework assignments and completion on a real-time basis. Teachers get the completed work and students receive their marks and feedback quickly.
The VLE also includes collaboration tools and the sharing of media and information between all education stakeholders.
The VLE’s main features are as follows:
The VLE manages cross-device communication between students, teachers, parents, and school management. Teachers can use media content. Parents can collaborate with teachers and fellow parents.
Students can interact within the education community via online discussions, forums, blogs, and one-to-one messaging. Students will also be provided with a personal email and storage space (25GB) for life.
Students can view due dates of appointments, events, assignments, and exams; manage study time by accessing, downloading, and uploading targeted coursework and education resources; select appropriate time slots to take online exams and quizzes; track academic performance; and monitor attendance frequency.
Teachers can monitor attendance, record absence reasons, and add explanatory comments; create sharable question banks using multiple question types; and manage dynamic content that conforms to SCORM standards; as well as author, schedule, deliver, grade, and evaluate online exams. Teachers can also create interactive assignments and grade them through Microsoft SharePoint Learning Kit (SLK) integration.
Users can assume a matrix of roles through a single account across the e-learning platform.
This allows tracking of such scenarios as student promotion, teacher mobility, parent with children in more than one school, and parent who is a teacher or administrator. Parental Involvement Through a dashboard, parents receive real-time notifications with current classes in their children’s timetables and due dates of assignments and exams.Parents can also track their children’s attendance, grades, and performance.
The VLE can integrate with the school’s management system to streamline data entry and updates. Changes in user and class data are reflected in the e-learning platform and is accessible to students, teachers and parents on a real-time basis.
